guardian weekend magazine

illustration for a column by Oliver Burkeman, in the guardian weekend magazine. basically it's about the lack of a proper sense of urgency in our life, about how we try to please everybody else but ourselves, altho we are aware that our time is limited. therefore -the writing says- we need a revival of the artistic genre known as the memento mori. just like in renaissance europe where public clocks carried latin phrases reminding that time was ticking away and everybody is mortal.

globe and mail book review

illustration for a review of Neil Bissoondath's The Soul of all Great Designs novel, basically a love story between a man, a self-made successful interior designer, and a woman, only child of indo-canadian parents. But goes beyond that exploring questions like at what point does the social mask grow into the face beneath .
"...be true to the role you're stuck with."

italian food

italian food culture always amazed me, every meal is a ritual there and their love for food starts from early ages.
this is an illustration for an essay written by a canadian woman who raises her three years old son in rome where she experiences the differences between her own, canadian, and the italian food culture.
"Italian parents make food taste so good the kids can’t resist it"
.
it will be published on july 9th in globe and mail.
